A Few Amazing Brainers

As we start 2020, we first want to look back on some very important anniversaries. We hosted BRAINSTORM for the 5th year, we retired our Desktop version of the software after 25 years, and, at the same time, CampBrain is celebrating its 25th year.

But more important are the people that have helped us along the way to reach those milestones. Jeff, Mayuran, and Ali celebrated 10 years with us in 2019, and Brad celebrated his 15th year!

Here is just a little bit about each and what they have contributed over the years:

Jeff Bowman

Jeff joined us in 2009, after being a camper and staff member at Camp Robin Hood for many, many years. He originally joined our Tech Support team, and did a little bit of everything, phone support, custom reports and trainings.

After a few years in Tech Support, Jeff joined our Business Development team in 2013, and it could not have been a more perfect fit.  Jeff played a pivotal role in introducing the web-based version of CampBrain to the camp community, has built countless relationships over the years, be it at a conference, providing a demo of CampBrain or presenting our Admins Unite Session. It goes without saying, Jeff has been a huge contributor to the CampBrain family in his tenure and we all look forward to continuing our journey with him.

Mayuran Sunderam

Unless you worked with Mayuran in the early days of Desktop OLR, you may not know who he is. Mayuran joined us in August 2009, originally on an 8-month contract, that has grown into an incredible 10-years!

Mayuran’s leadership and technical abilities have shined in his time at CampBrain. He is the only person to hold leadership positions on both our Operations and Development side of CampBrain, as the OLR manager and now our Scrum Master. He is a dedicated and motivated individual, who puts his best foot forward every day.  Mayuran has not only been an integral part of the business from a client standpoint but has also spent a lot of time on our Culture Committee and continues wanting to make CampBrain the best place to work.

Ali Vanderheym

Ali has done it all at CampBrain. Since joining the company in 2009, Ali has worked in every department in CampBrain. In fact, she is the only person to have done so. Beginning in tech support on our Operations team, she quickly moved to Business Development and worked with Rob, before moving to the role we know her in today, as a Product Owner on our Development team.

Ali has many incredible qualities, but there are two in particular that immediately come to mind. First – Ali is thorough, extremely thorough. She has to think of every situation that can occur for every feature we release. Think about our Waitlist feature. She defines a “happy” path, the way we want you to use Waitlist, which is just registering for the Waitlist. But she also identifies the “not so happy” path, all the different ways someone can end up on a Waitlist (and there are a lot!). Time and time again Ali identifies countless “not so happy” paths and puts forward solutions so each feature runs smoothly. Second – Ali is empathetic. Through numerous chats with clients, she truly “wears your shoes” to pinpoint exactly what you need from a feature, and come up with a solution that will fix those needs. Those qualities and countless others, make Ali an amazing team member, and the rest of us extremely proud colleagues.

Brad McClelland

Brad has quite literally seen it all at CampBrain – he is our longest tenured team member by almost a half decade, and has been part of our Development team for his entire time at CampBrain.

Brad started at CampBrain on May 21st, 2004. Since he joined, Brad has done 45% of the changes in CampBrain desktop, and worked on quite literally every single part of CampBrain web. He has made an enormous impact on CampBrain. Without Brad, it’s hard to imagine where CampBrain would be today.

Five Year Anniversary

We also would like to point out two Brainers who have been with us for 5 years, Arvind Virdee and Charlotte Aicklen. They have both been outstanding coworkers, and have made incredible impacts at CampBrain.

At the 5 year mark, everyone receives a paddle to recognize their commitment and effort at CampBrain. Next time you are in the office, we’ll point them out to you!

Five Year Anniversary

From all of these accomplishments and so many more, please join us in thanking Jeff, Mayuran, Ali, Brad, Arvind and Charlotte for their incredible work at CampBrain and with you!
